For the Bill assignment, we had to research a cause that we we cared about and write it up in a realistic bill template, where it would then be passed through "Congress"(Mr. Adam). This bill had to be filled with data and statistics to make it as detailed and realistic as possible. Once the project was finished and turned in at the end of Quarter 1, we were put into partners to grade and comment on eachothers Bill for feedback and help. We then editied it to a final draft, and recieved our final grades for the project.
The goal for the bill was to participate in Civic literacy and Engagement. This project relates to Civic Literacy and Engagement because students experiecnce and learn about the government and laws, and how to use a bill to alter or make a law to change the society you live in today. This work sample also taught us the importance of data and statistics, and how to incorporate them into writing.
I chose this assignment because I want people to recognize the importance of Law and participating in community. Some forms of helping the community could be volunteering, supporting a local business, and donating! Bills are one of the biggest ways to help communities all around the country, or your local community!
This assignment demonstrates my current growth because I know the importance of participating in government when I become of age, and how I can use a bill to make in impact on my community and the world. Learning about law government involves analytic skills, and debating skills that we definitely need for the future. Debating with another student using analytics, data, and statistics is one of the most important skills we must learn if we are to fight for what we care about. One of the things I would change about my Bill would be my description in sections 3 and 4. These sections are important to be descriptive in because they are the actual operation of the Bill itself.
